‘Lekker Feeling: A Bitcoin Ekasi Story’ takes you to Mossel Bay, South Africa, where a group called Bitcoin Ekasi has partnered with a local surfing group to create new opportunities with Bitcoin. There, the group is building new hope for a community still divided by the legacy of Apartheid by empowering the next generation to learn about Bitcoin and surfing as a pathway to individual freedom.
Bitcoin Ekasi is a non-profit organization seeking to establish a bitcoin economy in Mossel Bay, South Africa. The program provides financial literacy education to local residents, with a focus on the area’s younger generation and business community.
Bitcoin Ekasi is an extension of The Surfer Kids, a registered non-profit organization, founded in 2010. The NPO is 100% donation-based and works to create youth-empowerment through surfing.
While visiting the facilities of both Bitcoin Ekasi and The Surfer Kids, we asked what the community needs to continue thriving and helping local kids. The answer is to rebuild the current facilities which cannot currently sustain the amount of children seeking to join the program.
